What is Open Studio?
Describe what open studio space is. Art Not Shame is available for rent by individuals and organizations for to run workshops, use it as a practice space, blah blah blah. Our space is typically rented x number of times in the week, and is open for drop-ins on Mondays 10am until 4pm, and Thursdays from 3pm until 5pm. When the space is not being rented, it is available for Open Studio use - meaning, if you have an Art Not Shame membership, you can use the space whenever it’s free! You’ll be granted access to a calendar to be able to check weekly Open Studio times. Open Studio is for shared-use only. For individual/private use, your membership allows you to book the space at 50% off. CLARIFY WHETHER PPL WITH MEMBERSHIP CAN ACCESS SPACE AFTER HOURS AND/OR WITHOUT STAFF PRESENT.
Renting the Space
We try to make renting space at Art Not Shame easy and enjoyable for all. As an Art Not Shame member, you receive special member rates (50% off community rates) and the support and care of the 10C staff team. We can work with you to determine your event set-up needs and be sure you have what you need to feel confident and enthusiastic about your next event. Plan to have enough time to set up and to clean up when you book a space. Leave the space even better than how you found it with any recycling/waste and belongings removed and tables and chairs back in place.
Please clean up after yourself, do your own dishes and return booked spaces to how you found them. The goal at Art Not Shame is that we share space by leaving the space even better than how you found it with any recycling/waste and belongings removed and tables and chairs in place.

Insurance
10C holds $5,000,000 of General Commercial Liability Insurance to appropriately insure its operations at all 10C locations. This insurance includes general liability relating to 10C employees, members, occupants, volunteers, visitors and those working within the building. 10C does not insure or directly protect the personal equipment of cotenants or coworkers, nor does it extend any liability coverage resulting from food made, services delivered or sold by members or independent businesses on these premises. 10C encourages you to speak with an insurance broker to obtain insurance that suits your specific needs including commercial general liability insurance, tenant insurance, legal liability insurance and or party and alcohol liability insurance for special events. 10C requires that you have appropriate insurance coverage on file and documented with your membership information. 10C can provide a Certificate of Insurance (COI) on request, and can (on request) name your organization as additional insured, and 10C may similarly ask to be named as additional insured on your insurance policy.
Furniture and Equipment
All furniture and equipment at Art Not Shame belongs to Art Not Shame. Please ask before moving furniture drastically during regualar hours. If you are renting the space, you may move the furniture to accomodate your event, but it must be moved back as it was before leaving the space. You will be charged for any furniture or equipment that is damaged, lost, or altered.
Accessing Art Not Shame
KISI is a cloud-based application that is used to lock and unlock the front door at Art Not Shame. Once you become a member of Art Not Shame, you will be granted access to our space using this app. Your membership determines when and how you will have access to the space. For general access (except for when the space is rented for a private event), the doors at Art Not Shame are unlocked from 10am to 4pm, Monday to Thursday (except certain holidays and/or with advanced notice).
All individuals who require off-hours access to the building, are required to fill out the 10C KISI User Agreement Form. We cannot grant KISI access until this form is submitted.
Parking
Street parking downtown is free for up to 2 hours Monday to Saturday, 8am to 6pm. Street parking is free on Sundays. Market Parkade, the parking garage across from City Hall (Market Parkade) is the most convenient option, with a 2022 pricing structure of:
Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.: $3 per hour, $30 maximum per day
Saturday: $3 per day or $5.50 special event
Evenings and Sundays: Free or $5.50 special event
Alternatively, free all day parking is available on many side streets adjacent to downtown.

Providing trigger and content warnings
Respecting others’ pronouns
Remembering not to interact with service animals unless given permission by their handler
Being open to using alternative communication methods, such as written notes, translators or digital aids
Giving personal and physical space to those around you
Keeping pathways clear to support easy movement
Seeking consent before offering any form of assistance
Keeping noise to a considerate level
Not moving others’ personal belongings without asking
Asking for others’ consent when recording video, audio or taking pictures
This is a safe(r) space, and we do not tolerate harassment or bigotry of any kind directed towards our volunteers, staff, or guests. Art Not Shame prohibits discrimination based on age, race, religion, disability, sexuality, socioeconomic status, gender identity, and substance use. Access entails the mutual respect and safety of all participants, and we are committed to fostering an inclusive and respectful environment for everyone.

This is a welcoming and judgment free space for any type of supports you may need, including but not limited to:
Guide dogs and service animals
Assistive devices (e.g., mobility aids, communication devices)
Support persons
Comfort items (e.g., blankets, stuffed animals, etc.)
Visual aids (e.g., text-to-speech devices, magnifiers, etc. )
Hearing aids and amplification devices
Noise-canceling headphones
Personal space markers or cushions
Cultural or religious items (e.g., prayer mats, ceremonial objects)
Wellness and mental health tools (e.g., stress-relief items, personal journals, fidget toys, etc.)
Safe and preferred foods
Scent-Free
We maintain a chemical fragrance-free space to ensure that our environment is safe and welcoming for everyone, including those with chemical sensitivities, sensory sensitivities, scent-triggered migraines, allergies, asthma, and other respiratory conditions. Fragrances and scented products can trigger severe health reactions. While at Art Not Shame, please refrain from wearing scented products such as perfumes/colognes, hair products, cosmetics, and scented lotions. Please also avoid using scented soaps, shampoos, and detergents prior to your visit.
Smoke-free
We are a smoke and vape-free space as per the Smoke-Free Ontario Act of 2017.
Substance use
We do not permit the use of substances on our premises, with the exception of prescriptions and alcohol at licensed events.
